To complete my masters degree at UAL I undertook a research project resulting in the report below. As a mixed race casual athlete I wanted to understand more deeply the experience of Black female runners — when the elite field disproportionally represents Black backgrounds but the social (yet viral) run club scene felt exceedingly White. As advertising becomes exceedingly personalised, what is there to learn about the ever-growing mixed race consumer, and can they be understood as a monolith?
